Exploring Desi Corners: A Taste of Southern India in Edmond

Today is a beautiful fall Friday—perfect weather to explore something new. While driving along Broadway in Edmond, I stumbled upon a new Indian restaurant called Desi Corners, located at 1012 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. The building, a thoughtfully converted Wendy’s, immediately caught my attention. The parking lot was buzzing with activity, and inside, I noticed a lively crowd of Indian diners, many of them students—a great sign when seeking authentic cuisine!

I was curious to try it, so I ordered a Southern Indian meal: chicken curry and chapati. While I typically skip rice, I indulged in two chapatis, and they didn’t disappoint. The meal was satisfying, delicious, fresh, soft, and perfectly paired with the flavorful curry. I’d rate the experience a solid 7 out of 10—though nothing can rival my mom’s cooking!

What truly stood out was the cultural connection I felt while dining. Watching Indian students eat with their hands—a traditional and cherished practice in India—brought back memories of my childhood and teenage years. Food has an incredible way of taking us back to places we’ve been and people we’ve loved, reminding us of the richness of our roots.

Desi Corners didn’t just serve great food; it created a space where culture, memories, and flavors converged. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and filled with natural light, creating a bright and pleasant environment. The friendly staff and quick service made the experience even better. As someone in real estate, I couldn’t help but appreciate the charm of the freestanding building—it felt inviting and thoughtfully designed for the dining experience.

Desi Corners is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is perfect for lunch or dinner. While Edmond doesn’t have the same large Indian communities as cities like Dallas, this restaurant brings a much-needed taste of India to the area.

If you’re reading this blog and wondering about Indian food, I recommend checking out Desi Corners. Go alone, take your family, or invite your significant other for a flavorful culinary adventure. Food isn’t just about taste; it’s about experience. Sometimes, trying a new cuisine in a different setting can trigger emotions, spark memories, and even bring a sense of alertness to life.

Indian food, with its rich spices and diverse flavors, reflects culture, tradition, and history. But this isn’t just about Indian food but about embracing life’s experiences. You are a spiritual being living in a human body, and exploring new things is essential while you’re here on Earth. Don’t let life pass you by without stepping outside your comfort zone. Whether trying Indian cuisine, making that one call you’ve been meaning to, scheduling that extra appointment, or meeting someone for coffee and a good old-fashioned conversation, life is full of opportunities to grow, connect, and awaken to the world's richness.
